Mrs. Eunice Valentine-McKenzie Recently Passed Away…
Mrs. Eunice Valentine-McKenzie was a very dedicated Librarian at Annotto Bay High School. She joined LIAJA in 2006 and was a very active member of the Schools Section.
Her work as a librarian positively impressed the principal of the school in such a way that she was always given time and monetary assistance to attend conferences such as the International Association of School Librarianship (IASL) and ACURIL. LIAJA was also impressed with her work and therefore selected her to be one of those who went to Australia to promote the IASL 2011 conference that was held in Jamaica. She became the first school librarian to attend regional and international conferences regularly. The last one she attended was in Brisbane, Australia.
Eunice always seeks to improve her knowledge and competencies and would have seminars at her school to impart what she had learned. Her school library was always well kept. It was used sometimes for School Section Meetings.
Her support for LIAJA can be considered as excellent. She was always taking part in fundraising activities for the school section.
She resigned from her position at Annotto Bay High School to take up the position of Principal at Scotts Hall Primary School, a job she enjoyed very much and held until she retired.
The funeral service for Mrs. McKenzie will be held on Saturday, December 3, starting at 10 am. It will be at the Anglican Church in Annotto Bay. Internment in the churchyard.
Directions: The church is near the entrance to the Annotto Bay Hospital and right opposite the Roman Catholic church.
